A Letter to Godparent. And to Everyone Who Can Be One

One young life. One degree. And someone who believed.

When our students from Africa send thank-you letters to their godparents, they always remind us why we do what we do. They give thanks to someone they may never have met but who believed in them.

Recently, we received letters from two young Tanzanian women who are nearing the completion of their university studies. They wrote to their godparents, who had supported them from afar for years and believed in them throughout.Because sponsors don’t just offer financial help, they become an invisible strength, a sense of safety and support. Proof that these children are not alone.

Dear Godmother, Thank You

I’ve finally completed my studies, and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.Your love, support, and sacrifice made this possible. You believed in me, stood by me, and helped me through every step.Because of you, I made it.May God bless you abundantly. I love you so much!

You Were There for Me

I am writing this message with deep gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to sincerely thank you for your unwavering support throughout my academic journey.Because of your generosity and belief in me, I am proud to share that I have successfully completed my bachelor’s degree.Your support has not only relieved the financial burden but has also served as a great source of motivation and hope. This achievement is a reflection of your kindness, and I consider it a shared success.

Thank you for investing in my future. I am committed to using the knowledge and skills I have gained to make a positive difference in my community and beyond.May you continue to be blessed and empowered to touch the lives of others as you have touched mine.

But It’s Not Always Easy...

Sponsorships often begin with love and hope. But life brings unexpected turns. Sadly, we are increasingly facing situations where godparents, for understandable reasons, have to step away mid-journey.

For our students, this can be the moment when dreams begin to shake just before the finish line. When the support they relied on disappears, even though the end is so near.

That’s why stories like these are powerful reminders of the importance of seeing things through. And how worthwhile it is not to give up.

A Call to Everyone Who Wants to Help

This is Rose. Soon, she will be a qualified pharmacist. What joy!The invisible link between these two photos is called OPPORTUNITY.It was created by godparents who gave this African girl the greatest gift — the chance to go to school. The most reliable way to help a child in Africa is to give them that precious opportunity.

Without us, that opportunity doesn’t exist. Without godparents, that second smiling photo would look very different.

But there is one more thing we want to say — and it’s a heartfelt request to anyone who might consider helping a girl like Rose.Children grow up. They may look like adults, but until they hold that diploma in their hands, they still need your support.

We are looking for godparents for our students who are currently studying without financial support. Please help them on this last and most important point of the journey, so they can become independent, empowered young people. That is something every human being deserves.
