On April 23rd, 2026, we brought our music quiz Dance and Relieve Your Back Pain to the Medvescak Care Home in Zagreb and found ourselves right in the middle of a birthday showdown: March versus April.

Since the Home celebrates all residents born in the same month with a shared birthday gathering, this edition of our quiz became part of a very special celebration. Participants were divided into two teams, with residents born in March competing against those born in April through music questions, guessing famous performers, singing along and plenty of shared laughter.

And honestly, the competition was fierce. Hands were shooting up faster than on TV quiz shows, correct answers came without hesitation and some choruses were sung at full volume with impressive confidence.

In the end, April claimed a narrow victory, but in our quiz, everyone who sings, connects and creates memories together is a winner.

After the quiz, we continued the birthday celebration with cake before the residents proudly showed us a short film they had created for a retirement festival. They were the producers, camera crew and stars of the film themselves.

We were especially touched to receive a thank-you certificate from Medvescak Care Home for organizing the birthday music quiz, another reminder of how meaningful these gatherings are for older adults.

Moments like these remind us how important activities like this can be. Sometimes all it takes is a few familiar songs, a little competitive spirit and good company to turn an ordinary day into a celebration people remember for a long time.

The activity was carried out with the institutional support of the National Foundation for Civil Society Development, which supports programs focused on strengthening community connections, active participation and quality of life for older adults.
