Donation from Kolibri Kindergarten

Donation from Kolibri Kindergarten

We are overjoyed and deeply grateful to share that this week we received an enormous donation from Kolibri Kindergarten in Zagreb, whose staff, parents, and children demonstrated just how much kindness and generosity a kindergarten community can have.

We would like to sincerely thank all the parents, educators, cleaning staff, professional associates, and children who participated in the collection of hygiene products and other essential supplies for the children in our care at St. Anthony’s Orphanage in Tanzania.

A special thank you goes to kindergarten employee and the initiator of this wonderful campaign, Antonia Huđek, a long-time volunteer with a truly big heart. During her volunteer service, Antonia spent two months at our orphanage in Tanzania, where she experienced firsthand the daily challenges faced by children without parental care. Upon returning to Croatia, she continued her commitment to helping others by regularly volunteering with children with developmental disabilities at the Tuškanac Centre for Education and Training, bringing them joy, support, and friendship.

Inspired by her personal experience and her desire to help the children she met in Tanzania, Antonia launched this campaign within her kindergarten community, and the response was extraordinary. More than 20 large boxes of donations arrived at our branch office in Zagreb, filled with hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, sanitary pads, footwear, and many other items that are essential for the daily lives of children in Tanzania.

We were particularly touched by the care and responsibility with which these donations were collected. Since our organization delivers most aid to Africa through volunteers who transport donations in their personal luggage, we face significant limitations regarding both the quantity and type of supplies we can send. For this reason, we especially appreciate that all participants carefully followed our guidelines and collected exactly those items that are most needed and most suitable for this method of transportation.

Antonia Huđek will personally bring part of the collected donations to Tanzania—as much as she can fit into her suitcases—giving this story of kindness its most meaningful continuation. Thanks to her dedication and commitment, as well as the generosity of the entire Kolibri Kindergarten community, many children will receive essential supplies that will make their daily lives easier and provide them with better conditions for growing up.

This campaign has shown how the unity of parents, children, and staff within one educational institution can create a wave of kindness that travels thousands of kilometres and changes the lives of those who need help the most. At the same time, it serves as a wonderful example of how the values of empathy, solidarity, and humanity can be passed on to the youngest generation, raising children who understand the importance of helping others.

On behalf of the children and staff of St. Anthony’s Orphanage in Tanzania, and on behalf of our entire association, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Antonia Huđek, Kolibri Kindergarten, its director, and all the parents, staff members, and children who participated in this campaign.

Your kindness will travel thousands of kilometres, but its impact will be felt every single day—in the smiles of children to whom you have shown that they are not alone and that, somewhere far away, there are people who care about them.

Thank you for proving that compassion knows no borders and that even the smallest hands can accomplish great things when guided by the heart.
