The research on the social needs of the citizens of Imotski Krajina was conducted as part of the project element Designing, developing and introducing modern initiatives for citizen participation in the process of managing public spaces in the local community and / or at the regional level. The survey, co-financed by the European Union, involved 120 citizens through an online survey and 22 citizens through two focus groups. It started in December 2020 and lasted until May 2021. Here are excerpts from the research, and you can see the original results on the website www.laurentius.com.hr (https://laurentius.com.hr/2021/07/13/rezultati-istrazivanja-o-drustvenim-potrebama-gradana-i -gradanki-na-podrucju-imotske-krajine /) The citizens responded to several topics, and the results are as follows: SATISFACTION WITH FACILITIES - the results of the research showed a high level of dissatisfaction of citizens with social facilities in the Imotski region. 44.2% of citizens indicate a high presence of dissatisfaction with the availability of cultural content, and half of the participants, 51.7% of them are dissatisfied or completely dissatisfied when it comes to the availability of educational content in their local environment. COMMUNITY COMMITMENT - the survey surveyed mostly young and middle-aged residents. When asked if they were considering leaving their place of residence, 39% of them gave an affirmative answer. 14% of participants considering emigrating view this option as a permanent choice, while the remaining 25% of participants want to move out temporarily and return to their place of residence in the foreseeable future. IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY - a significantly high percentage of participants, 93% of them supported the statement that it is important or very important for them to improve the quality of life in their local community. However, despite the expressed will for social activism, it is surprising that only a third of the participants have experience of volunteering in one of the civil society organizations. VOLUNTEER ACTIONS - the greatest interest in volunteer engagement through the initiation of the action, the respondents showed for the humanitarian action of collecting donations and arranging the location in nature. PERSPECTIVE OF "SOCIAL CENTER LAURENTIUS" - since the Imotski region covers a large area, the center is an appropriate space for connecting the population and their participation in educational, interactive and entertainment content, created according to the interests of residents. As part of the research, attitudes about the Laurentius Community Center and the way in which it will affect the quality of life of the inhabitants of Imotski Krajina were examined. Thus, as many as 85% of participants agree with the statement that the Social Center will raise the quality of life of residents.
